It is not often that an independent comic book comes along that is fuul of great story, Artwork, Characters you can care about, villains that are truly wicked, Plot twist and real emotion. The Standard however is one such comic book. With the with the excellent talents of Mr. John Lees he has managed to capture the nostalgia and fun of comics from the golden age and repackaged it for a modern audience. The story revolves the retired Standard who must come out of retirement and solve the mystery of his successors death , His once former sidekick. It is a great story with excellent pacing and not one to be missed. The artwork is done by up and coming superstar Johnathan Rector and he delivers on all fronts his fresh artwork is perfect for this book as he molds golden age style art and story telling with the modern flair that current comic book aficionados look for.
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it highly. I've met Mr. Lees and he is an energetic and passionate creator comics needs more creators like this. Beside that his accent is absolutely killer as he hails from Glasgow, Scotland. In tribute and honor to this great character and comic I've done a watercolor piece of the title character. Enjoy!!
